The World Heritage Day of UN Habitat was carried out in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia on the 3rd of October.

The World Heritage Day of UN Habitat was carried out in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia on the 3rd of October. Un-Habitat is the United Nations' Human settlements program.
    It is traditional that the assistant of the UN Secretary General and the Executive Director of UN Habitat Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka is handing the Scroll of Honour of UN for the realization of projects that are acknowledged in the world as outstanding in the sphere of development of cities.
    The projects of six cities from different parts of the world were awarded by this Scroll. Kazan city was rewarded for its Slums Liquidation Program. During this program 100 thousands of Kazan citizens that lived in the slums have received the comfortable dwellings. This project was acknowledged as the unprecedented contribution into the realization of the Millennium Development Goals, which were defined on Summit of the Heads of States of UN.
    The candidature of Kazan city was promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Euro-Asia of Organization of the United Cities and Local Governments.
