On May 8-11 Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia visited the cities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The first meeting took place on May 8 with the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali. Rasikh Sagitov represented the most significant projects and programs of the organization including the Research of the Cities’ International Activity Rating and localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The parties defined the areas of further cooperation. Rustami Emomali highlighted the important role of UCLG in representing the interests of the cities in the international arena and expressed commitment to the organization’s activity.
Dushanbe has been a member of UCLG since 2008 and actively participates in its activity. The chairman of the city Rustami Emomali is a member of the World Council of UCLG.
“The status of the capital, initiative leadership in international discussions and initiatives – the city of Dushanbe has an enormous potential to become the economic center in the long run and the most attractive for investments city of Central Asia’, noted Rasikh Sagitov.
