Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov took part in the discussions of the draft Voluntary National Review of the 2030 Agenda implementation in Russia. This event took place on March 13, 2020, in Moscow, in the big conference hall of the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation.
Since 2019, according to the instructions of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Analytical Centre has been preparing the Review with the participation of many stakeholders. Thus, UCLG-Eurasia is taking active part in the working groups on SDG 5 “Gender Equality”, SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, SDG 13 “Climate Action” and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”.
In his speech Rasikh Sagitov focused the participants’ attention on the key role of local governments in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. According to him, 64% of all SDGs cannot be achieved without the participation of local governments. Besides, during the discussion of the chapter dedicated to SDG 5 “Gender Equality” Rasikh Sagitov suggested to include into the Review the information on the representation of women in local government.
