UCLG-Eurasia continues to participate in discussions on the structure and content of the chapters of the Voluntary National Review on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Russia.
Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, took part in the discussion of the draft chapters on SDG 12 “Responsible consumption and production”, SDG 13 “Climate action”, SDG 14 “Life below water” and SDG 15 “Life on land”. Discussions took place on October 11, 2019.
The preparation of the Review is coordinated by the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation. Thus, 17 working groups including representatives of public associations, scientific and expert organizations were formed for each SDG. Each chapter of the review corresponds to one of the SDGs and includes information on the indicators, measures and projects that contribute to their achievement.
In addition, the participants of the discussion agreed that the Review should reflect voluntary certification of companies according to environmental standards, quantitative indicators and graphic material, provide information on ecosystem conservation programs. There are many of such programs in Russia, and they will allow to wider present the country’s contribution to the conservation of the global ecosystem. Experts also proposed their own edits of the Review.
The Voluntary National Review will be presented by Russia in 2020.
