Eurasia Regional Section of the World organization "United Cities and Local Governments"
From 11 to 12 August, a working trip of Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov to the Republic of Tajikistan took place. He met with First Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe Jamshed Tabarzoda.
The parties discussed the further cooperation and engagement of Dushanbe in the UCLG-Eurasia’s activities. Special attention was paid to the issues of ecology and resilience to climate change. Glaciers of Tajikistan are the source of drinking water for many settlements of Central Asia, and the global warming poses a threat of melting and water deficit.
As part of this trip, Rasikh Sagitov visited the cities of Kulob and Bokhtar, where he met with heads of the Khatlon region. The parties discussed a wide range of issues in terms of cooperation and further interaction of municipalities at the international arena within UCLG-Eurasia.
