Global platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is a global multilateral forum, where the focus is on disaster risk reduction and building resilience of communities.
The seventh session of the Global Platform for disaster risk reduction (further – GP2022) will be held on Bali, Indonesia from 23 to 28 May 2022 in person.
The forum is organized and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and hosted by the Government of Indonesia. The event will be co-chaired by the Government of Indonesia and UNDRR.
It should be noted that on 23 May Local Leaders’ Forum will be held.
The Global Platform is an opportunity for leaders and influential people of the world to showcase the importance of preventive measures and building resilience of population in disaster effects reduction.
In terms of general topic of GP2022 namely “From risk to sustainability: on the way to sustainable development for everyone in the world changed by COVID-19” prior attention will be given to the way the pandemic challenged the traditional understanding of a risk and disaster risk governance. GP2022 offers unique and timely opportunity to demonstrate the importance of international solidarity and cooperation, to discuss the ways of countering the main risk factors both locally and globally, to improve disaster risk governance and to recommit with all urgency to acceleration of progress on disaster risk reduction and the achievement of sustainable development.
The conference program includes a range of activities, among them opening and closing ceremonies, high-level dialogues, ministerial round tables, thematic sessions, official statements, plenary meetings on the mid-term review, side events, innovations platform, a scene for brief presentations, educational laboratories, and field visits.
The opening and closing ceremonies, high-level dialogues, thematic sessions, plenary meetings on the mid-term review, and ministerial round tables will be interpreted into the six official languages of the UNO, namely: English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and French. At the above-mentioned sessions the interpretation of international signs and subtitles will be provided in real time as well.
Online participation will be available for registered remote participants via the virtual conference platform.
