During April 2021, the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments” jointly with the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments conducted a survey on the role of municipalities and regions and their associations in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

27 cities from the Eurasian region took part in the survey. Among them are Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Naryan-Mar, Neftekamsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novokuibyshevsk, Perm, Samara, Tomsk, Ulyanovsk, Khabarovsk, Rostov-on-Don, Yakutsk (Russia) and many others.

The survey paid special attention to the contribution of local and regional governments to the sustainable recovery from the pandemic, with a focus on SDG 3 “Good health and well-being”, as well as other interrelated SDGs.

The results of the survey will serve as a contribution to the preparation of the annual report of UCLG and the Global Taskforce on the activities of cities and regions concerning the implementation of the SDGs on the ground, which will be presented at the UN High-level Political Forum in July 2021.
