UCLG Retreat 2020: Synchronizing Efforts

The annual weekly learning event for staffers of regional secretariats, partners and international departments – UCLG Retreat – has come to an end. For the first time this event took place in Tangier, Morocco, from February 24 to 28, 2020.

The Annual UCLG Retreat and Campus is a weekly meeting that provides secretariats and partners with an opportunity to develop joint actions according to work plans proposed by the organization’s leadership.

This year, in addition to staffers of UCLG-Eurasia Secretariat headed by Secretary General of this section Rasikh Sagitov, Mayor of Comrat Sergey Anastasov, Head of Bugulma Municipal District Linar Zakirov, Head of the International and Intermunicipal Relations Department of Kazan Ruslan Galiakhmetov, Head of the Economy and Finance Department of the Municipality of Bishkek Satybek Kanybekov, Chief Specialist of the Directorate of Foreign Trade Analysis and Relations with International Organizations of the Department of External Economic and International Relations of Moscow Ekaterina Sapronova and Representative of the city of Khabarovsk in Moscow Pavel Klimov took part in this event.

The participants discussed the joint implementation of the UCLG’s development strategy, upcoming events in 2020 and waves of action that the world organization will focus on over the next three years.

It is worth noting that on February 28, during the meeting of the UCLG Presidency, the award ceremony for the winners of the Rating of Municipalities’ International Activity took place. The diploma for the 1st place and the UCLG-Eurasia International Award in the amount of $10,000 was presented by UCLG President, Mayor of Al Hoceima Mohamed Boudra to the representative of the city of Bishkek Satybek Kanybekov. The Turkish city of Izmir ranked second in the common Rating, and the city of Khabarovsk ranked third.
