Один из древнейших городов Центральной Азии вступил в ОГМВ

The city of Khujand hospitably welcomed Rasikh Sagitov who presented Chairman of the city Maruf Mukhammadzoda the main areas of UCLG activity.

The result of the meeting was that the chairman of the city of Hujand expressed the intention to join UCLG and submitted the application that would be considered by the Council of Eurasian section of UCLG at Eurasia Local Governments Congress in the city of Cheboksary on September 05-08, 2018.

Khujand is located in the north of Tajikistan. With the population of 390 000 people it is the second largest city of Tajikistan, political, economic, cultural and scientific center of the country, important transport hub. International airport functions here.

Rasikh Sagitov highlighted the historical value and tourist attractiveness of Khujand: “Being one of the oldest cities of Central Asia and one of the transport hubs of Tajikistan Khujand in its own right can become one of the leaders of cultural tourism in the region”.

Besides, Rasikh Sagitov was impressed by the beauty and cleanliness of streets of the cities of Tajikistan that is an indicator of the responsible attitude of local governments and population to ecology.
