Nowruz has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and other regions, and promotes the values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families, as well as reconciliation and good neighborliness.
As Nowruz promotes cultural diversity and friendship between peoples and different communities, its celebration is in line with the UNESCO mandate, and Nowruz was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
