Outcomes of the Rating of Municipalities’ International Activity have been Summed Up

The meeting of the expert panel on stocktaking of the Rating of Municipalities’ International Activity was held at UCLG-Eurasia’s headquarters on February 17, 2020.

Chairman of the expert panel, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov told about the course of the preparation of the Research. Based on the questionnaires submitted by cities, the common and small ratings were compiled. In the small rating cities are classified into the groups according to the population. “The aim of the Research is to analyze the work of local governments towards the development of international relations and to define which cities do it most effectively. Its objective consists not only in ranking the municipalities’ international activity, but in preparing the detailed analysis of the rating’s outcomes”, Rasikh Sagitov highlighted.

During the meeting it was decided to entrust head of the Department of Sociology, Political Studies and Science of Law, PhD in politics, professor Nail Mukharyamov with the preparation of the analysis of the Rating’s outcomes.

Among the participants of the meeting were Attache of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Kazan Ildar Khasanzyanov, professor of the Department of World Politics and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of Kazan Federal University, PhD in history Yakov Grishin, Development Director of UCLG-Eurasia Saida Zagidullina, Project Coordinator of UCLG-Eurasia Tansylu Nurieva, etc.

It should be noted that the award ceremony for winners of the Rating of Municipalities’ International Activity will take place during the UCLG Retreat on February 28 in Tangier, Morocco, where the outcomes of the Rating will be presented.
