The Loss for the World Community: UCLG Ex-President Kadir Topbaş Passed Away

UCLG-Eurasia expresses its sincere condolences on the passing of Kadir Topbaş on February 13, 2021.

Ex-Mayor of Istanbul (2004-2017), the former President of UCLG (2010-2016), died at the age of 76 as a result of a long and difficult struggle with the coronavirus.

This is an irreparable loss for the entire world community. Kadir Topbaş was an effective manager, one of the main leaders of the inter-municipal movement. He defended the interests of local authorities in the international arena and in the highest UN structures.
