Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, paid a working visit to Minsk and Mogilev on January 6 and 7, where he met with Boris Batura, Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Related Cities, and Vladimir Tsumarev, Chairman of the Mogilev City Executive Committee.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues regarding cooperation and further interaction of the municipality at the international level within the framework of the UCLG-Eurasia Section. Rasikh Sagitov and Vladimir Tsumarev also discussed participation in the upcoming Seventh Congress of the UCLG in Tejon and full support for the initiatives of the leadership of UCLG-Eurasia Section at this congress.
The Secretary General of the UCLG-Eurasia Section noted Mogilev's active position on participation in international events and high-level political dialogues. He presented the chairman of the executive committee Vladimir Tsumarev with a diploma for the honorable second place among large cities (with a population of 100,000 to 499,999 people) in the Ranking of international activity of municipalities.
Recall that in 2019-2020, the UCLG-Eurasia Section conducted a Study of the international activity of municipalities. Its purpose is to identify how cities work towards the development of international relations and which ones do it better than others. At the same time, the main emphasis is placed on the activities of local governments. The study resulted in recommendations for the development of international relations of municipalities and a rating of international activity.
