Eurasia Regional Section of the World organization "United Cities and Local Governments"
Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, paid a working visit to the cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During these meetings, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation and further interaction at the international level.
On November 3, Rasikh Sagitov met with Mayor of the city of Turkistan Zhandos Tasov.
Turkistan is one of the most ancient cities of Kazakhstan, which is part of the Great Silk Road connecting East and West. Today, this city with a 1500-year history is one of the most important centers of Muslim pilgrimage in Central Asia.
It is worth noting that Turkistan has been a member of the Eurasia Section of the UCLG since 2019.
On November 4, the Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia visited the city of Shymkent and met with Deputy Mayor of Shymkent Aybek Sattibayev.
Modern Shymkent with the population of more than half a million people is one of the three largest cities in Kazakhstan, at the same time being the industrial, commercial and cultural center of South Kazakhstan Region. Over the recent years, Shymkent has been greatly transformed, largely due to the rapid development of entrepreneurship and business not only in Shymkent, but also in South Kazakhstan Region.
On November 5, Rasikh Sagitov met with Mayor of the city of Taraz Daulet Abilkairov.
Taraz is one of the oldest cities in Kazakhstan. It is credited with the primacy in many ways: the first metropolis, the first mosque built in Kazakhstan.
The Secretary General presented a book of international cooperation that contains the material on the development of relations between Russian and Eurasian cities, information on the structural divisions of municipalities in charge of external relations, their heads, information about the city's membership in international organizations, major international events that took place in the city, international awards, as well as some interesting facts about the city.
Rasikh Sagitov assured of the need to expand international cooperation through the participation in the work of the UCLG World Organization and in the international municipal movement.
