The meetings of the Executive Bureau of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments” (UCLG) in which leaders of the cities of the world participated took place on 18-19 April in Madrid (Spain). Delegation of UCLG-Eurasia headed by the President of UCLG-Eurasia Ilsur Metshin included Secretary General of Eurasian Section Rasikh Sagitov, Vice-President of UCLG-Eurasia, Mayor of Yakutsk Aysen Nikolaev, Chairman of Moscow City Duma Aleksey Shaopshnikov, Mayor of Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) Albek Ibraimov and Vice-Mayor of Kazan Evgeniya Lodvigova.
During the meetings the members of the Executive Bureau regarded the strategic priorities of UCLG for 2016-2019 and joint actions towards implementation of such projects as Habitat III and Sustainable Development Goals, as well as programs in the sphere of climate and urban sustainability. Members of the Executive Bureau held discussions on key areas of the world organization’s strategy, partnership and contribution of UCLG to the international processes, in particular continuation of partnership with the European Union for 2018-2020.
Besides, the reports of the Committee on Statutory Affairs and Finance Committee that held their sessions on April 19 were approved. Representatives of the Committee on Culture of UCLG provided reports on the results of the last Award for Culture and discussed organizational issues of the second UCLG Culture Summit that will take place on May 10-13 in South Korea, Jeju Island.
