Visit to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

The next stop in the business trip of Secretary-General of the Eurasian Regional Section of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments” Rasikh Sagitov to the Far East was the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The meeting of the Secretary-General with Deputy Head of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City District Administration – Head of the Affairs Management Department of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City District Administration Konstantin Bryzgin and Chairman of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City District City Duma Sergey Smirnov took place on July 10.

During the meeting the parties discussed the activity of the city within the framework of the international cooperation in UCLG-Eurasia. Deputy Head expressed readiness for active cooperation and showed interest in participating in the projects on tourism development, sharing experience in the area of innovation and participating in all statutory and thematic events of the international organization.

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a city and the administrative center of Kamchatka Region, Russia. It is the administrative and territorial unit (city under region jurisdiction), within which the Municipal Entity of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City District was established.

The city is located in Asia in the Far East of Russia, in the South-Eastern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula, on the shore of the Avacha Bay of the Pacific Ocean. Near the city there are active volcanos such as Koryakskaya and Avacha Sopkas.

The population is 180 963 people (2016).

It is the deployment site of the Pacific Fleet base of Russia.
