World Cities Day 2018

The United Nations has designated every 31st October as World Cities Day. The day is expected to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization, push forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities and addressing challenges of urbanization, and contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.

Thus, the UCLG-Eurasia member Volgograd city annually hosts the International Forum on Public Diplomacy. In the framework of the event the participants search for the new approaches to the solving of urban problems, determine the strategic development drivers and stimulate the cities to be open and cooperative.

This year the Forum will take place under the theme “The dialogue on the Volga-river: peace and mutual understanding in the 21st century”. It will gather mayors, urbanists, NGOs representatives including UCLG, the Association of the Volga-Region Cities, the Volgograd twin-cities, etc.

World Cities Day is also a holiday of mayors and all the people who work for the citizens and for the prosperity of the cities. Thank you for the great job, dedication and aspiration for development!
