Urban Health – Responsibility of Local Governments

UCLG-Eurasia calls to pay attention to urban health. In the frameworks of the UCLG World Council in Madrid on 5 November, 2018, Evgenia Lodvigova, Vice-Mayor of Kazan, presented the initiative of creation of the Committee on Urban Health.

“Today I would like to draw your attention to the issue of urban health. I think there is no need to prove that that health is a key, basic value for everyone”, - noticed Evgenia Lodvigova.

The World Health Organization supported the authors of the initiative. Thus, Monika Kosinska, Programme Manager, Governance for Health Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being WHO Regional Office for Europe, encouraged the idea of creating a Committee and stressed the need to consider the health issues at the local level.
