The Bank of the best municipal practice is being created in Russia

Dmitry Azarov, the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on the federal structure, regional policy, local government and Northern affaires held an audio tele-conference of All-Russian Local Government Council, dedicated to the Day of the Local Government, where he announced the start of the best municipal practice competition.

According to the legislator, the importance of the competition is explained by poor availability of the information about the best municipal practice, the lack of an integrated center of the appraisal and source of the information about the best practice. “There is information about the best business practice, best practice of city government, but what we need is an integrated database considering all the issues of local government”.

The best municipal practice competition will allow identifying most efficient models of local government, and creating new incentives for active citizens to be involved into the community activities at the local level. As a result, best socially important public initiatives on the grounds will be supported, which will benefit to the formation of a positive image of local government in Russia.

The announced nominations of the competition included: cooperation with investors and improving of the business climate, development of social control and territorial social self-government, development of local living environment and social responsibility of citizens.

Collection of best practices will be held from April 21 to December 1, 2015, and the results will be announced in a year-time. The competition is planned to be an annual event.
