On November 27, 2019, the Perm city forum “Territorial public self-governments – a strategy of development and partnership” was held. About 300 people took part in the event. Amongst the participants were heads of NGOs and territorial public self-governments, representatives of the Perm administration, experts, councilors and foreign guests.
On November 28, during a meeting between Lidia Koroleva, Vice-Mayor of Perm, with the international experts the outcomes of the forum were discussed. ‘Yesterday at the forum I saw a lot of involved people. Next year will be a special one for Oxford and Perm, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of our twinning relations’ Tim Sadler, Vice-Mayor of Oxford (UK), said.
Dave Morrel, Manager of the Oxford Communities Center, was impressed by the visit to the Perm Community Center, where he took part in a creative workshop.
‘The principles of democracy and participation in France have been implemented for over 40 years. At the same time, we note that our residents are losing their creative approach. At the Perm forum, I learned that different approaches can exist in different forms. Comparing our experience with yours, I realized that in France we are trying to unify everything. In the Perm example, I learned that territorial public self-governments can be different. This diversity is a key to creativity’, Michelle Weissier, Mayor of Lille (France), noted.
At the end of the meeting, Lidia Koroleva, on behalf of Mayor of Perm, thanked the guests for their participation and invited them to visit the city again.
