Kazan hosts a meeting of APEC 2012

A meeting of Ministers of Trade of member countries of “Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation” (APEC) chaired by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, A.R.Belousov took place on June 4-5, 2012 in Kazan.

The key issues on the agenda will be the development of regional economic integration, liberalization of trade and investment, improving of transport and logistics chains, provision of food security and intensive interaction in order to strengthen the innovation-based growth.

The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N.Minnikhanov.

As chairman of the organizing committee for the Universiade 2013, Igor Shuvalov will hold a working session to discuss the details of preparation for the Student games. Together with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko they will inspect 64 sports facilities which are still being built, visit the gymnastics center for 4 thousand spectators and the construction site of the largest football stadium in the Volga region for 45 thousand spectators. Both complexes are to be commissioned this year.

The forum was attended by Ministers of Trade of Australia, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Canada, China, Korea, Malaysia. Mexico. New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Singapore, USA, Thailand, Taipei (China), the Philippines, Chile, Japan.
