Kazan is going to be the Capital of the Turkic world in 2014

In 2014, Kazan will be announced as the capital of the Turkic world, according to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Turkish city of Eskisehir became the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2013. The solemn ceremony of awarding the city this title was held on March 12 in Ankara.

The decision to choose the annual cultural capital was made at the 10th Summit of Turkic-speaking Union in 2010, in Istanbul. The capital of Kazakhstan Astana was the first to acquire this title in 2012.

"The sum of $ 220 million is allocated from the budget for needs of our cultural festival. It is guided personally by the governor of the province of Eskishehir Kadir Kochdemir. Over twenty major cultural events will take place throughout the year. Officially they will start in Eskishehir on March 23. It is expected that the Turkish Prime Minister Redzhep Tayip Erdogan will open the festival", said the coordinator of the project " Eskişehir 2013 " Gyulnara Murtazaoglu.
