Mayor of Moscow Led the Task Force on Combating the COVID-19 in Russia

On March 15, 2020, Vladimir Putin signed the Order on the establishment of the State Council Task Force headed by Sergei Sobyanin to combat the spread of coronavirus. The Task Force includes 19 members, in particular, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Andrei Belousov, Deputy Prime Ministers Tatiana Golikova and Dmitry Chernyshenko, and a number of Ministers.

The first meeting of the working group took place on March 16, 2020. The participants discussed the organization of work of regional governments to combat this disease. Furthermore, it was decided to hold conference calls to develop a common position and coordinate the actions of national and regional governments in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in Russia.

Besides, Moscow was set into a high-alert mode from March 5, 2020. Sports, entertainment, public and other mass events with more than 5,000 participants are prohibited until 10 April. In addition, it is temporarily limited to hold exhibitions and other events with the number of participants more than 50 people at a time.
