Mayors of the Italian and French Cities Have Visited Novosibirsk

On 15 January, 2019, Anatoly Lokot, Mayor of Novosibirsk, met with Marie-Claude Jarot, Mayor of Monceau-les-Mines (France), and Roberto Ascani, Mayor of Castelfidardo (Italy). The foreign guests were interested in the experience of holding the Malaninsky contest-festival which is popularizing the folk art.

“Novosibirsk is the cultural capital of Siberia. There are 30 theaters, museums, art galleries and other cultural institutions. We are especially proud of the Malaninsky contest-festival”, - said Anatoly Lokot in his greeting speech.

Marie-Claude Zharot noted that she was ready to implement a similar project in Monceau-les-Mines. In the French municipality, which was a mining town earlier, there are strong original musical traditions that will form the basis of the future music festival.

As Roberto Ascani stressed, despite it was his first visit to Russia, he is familiar with the works of Russian musicians. In Novosibirsk, he saw an example of how to create conditions for the cultural development.

The traditional Malaninsky folk music festival and the contest of the accordionists and harmonists has been regularly held in Novosibirsk since 1987. This year there are not only musicians from different cities of Russia, but also foreign guests from France, Italy, Colombia, Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Spain among the participants.
