International Information Centers are the Future of Libraries

In 2018, the Russian-Chinese networking information and library center “Prigranichie” was opened in the city of Blagoveshchensk on the basis of three city libraries. The center is the information base where literature on the countries of the Asia-Pacific region is collected including the publications in the original languages. A special place in the center is dedicated to the books about China.

At the Center, employees regularly hold the joint events with Chinese students, where visitors may study literature, culture, language and share their knowledge. The authors of the idea are striving for the library to become not a book depository, but a center of knowledge acquisition.

In Blagoveshchensk, the Center consists of three departments, which are located on the basis of three libraries. Another division will operate in China, in the library of the city of Heihe.
