The International Work of Vladivostok has been Highly Commended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia

On May 29, 2019, in the administration of the city of Vladivostok the meeting between Maksim Peshkov, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and Olga Kozeratskaia, Vice-mayor of Vladivostok, took place.

“Vladivostok deserves the utmost attention. It is a very interesting and active city in terms of international cooperation. I have the most positive impression about Vladivostok”, - Maksim Peshkov said.

Vladivostok is the third important consular capital in Russia. There are 8 consulates general – of Vietnam, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, India, USA, Japan, and since March 1 – of Uzbekistan in the city. Honorary consuls of 12 countries, including Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the Federal Republic of Germany, Chile, Malaysia and the Chancery of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Russia carry out their activities in the Far Eastern capital.

As of 2018, Vladivostok signed agreements on sister city relations with 16 cities, among which are Niigata, Akita and Hakodate (Japan), San Diego, Juneau and Tacoma (USA), Dalian (China), Busan and Pohang (the Republic of Korea). 9 cities more signed agreements on friendship and cooperation with Vladivostok.

The implementation of the law “On Vladivostok Free Port” and hosting of the Eastern Economic Forum partly explains foreign partners’ interest in Vladivostok. This has stimulated the twofold increase in the number of major high-level international events, as well as foreign delegations visiting the city and the region. 86 meetings with foreign delegations were held in the city administration only during 2018.
