The Moscow Urban Forum in 2021 gathered a record number of speakers
The participants discussed the global challenges facing megacities, exchanged experience and presented successful urban transformation projects.
The X Moscow Urban Forum (MUF), which was held from July 1 to July 4, received a record number of participants in its entire history. The results of its work were summed up at a meeting of the Presidium of the Moscow Government under the leadership of Sergei Sobyanin.
The main venue of the forum was once again the Zaryadye Concert Hall, and the main theme was " Superstar Cities. Lessons of successful transformation". The participants discussed the global challenges facing megacities, exchanged experience and presented successful urban transformation projects.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, the forum was organized in a mixed format — with a reduction in the number of offline participants and the connection of speakers in the teleconference mode. This made it possible to attract a record number of participants in the discussions in the entire history of the MUF-480 speakers (1.6 times more than in 2019), including 188 foreign experts from 37 countries of the world.
The speakers of the MUF-2021 included Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov, Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being — Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation Anna Popova, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler, Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu (Turkey), Chief Mayor of Leipzig Burkhard Jung (Germany), Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu (Ireland), Vice Mayor of Milan Pierfrancesco Maran (Italy), Secretary General of the international organization "Doctors Without Borders" (MSF) Christopher Lockyer and others.
More than 1,200 experts from 18 countries, including representatives of the Government and heads of regions of Russia, leading international experts and politicians, as well as four mayors of foreign cities, took part in discussions, round tables, presentations and other events of the MUF-2021 business program. The broadcasts were watched by more than 100 thousand people from 75 countries.
The work of the MUF was covered by 320 journalists representing 45 mass media. More than 6.5 thousand publications were published in the media.
By tradition, the most important part of the MUF was the international congress of Urban Health, within the framework of which 16 events were organized. 78 speakers from 18 countries spoke at them. The Congress participants discussed effective solutions to combat the spread of COVID-19.
More than 70 events were held at the Moscow Urban Fest, which was held online this year. 145 speakers took part in them. The broadcasts were watched by 350 thousand people.
Key Moscow development projects were presented at the MUF-2021 exhibition. Business meetings, signing of agreements and other events were held at the stands, which were also broadcast online.
Within the framework of the forum, the Moscow Government concluded an agreement with KamAZ PJSC and Rusnano on the establishment of the production of hydrogen-powered buses in Moscow.
GBU "MosTransProekt" and the Baku Transport Agency signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of intelligent transport systems.
They also announced the launch of the "Cities Win Diabetes" program, which was attended by the Moscow Diabetes Association, the Moscow Urban Forum, Strelka Design Bureau, the Youth Council of the Moscow City Health Department and the Novo Nordisk company.
On July 2, the annual MUF Community Awards 2021 took place. The winners were selected during an online voting on mos.ru from 21 to 30 June. More than 210 thousand people took part in it.
