Named the Top 10 Best Monocities of Russia in 2021

The ranking included Mendeleevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Togliatti, Tulun, Gubkin, Pavlovsk (Voronezh region), Cherepovets, Nevinnomyssk, Blagoveshchensk (the Republic of Bashkortostan) and Kirovsk (Murmansk region)

The cities of Tatarstan - Mendeleevsk and Naberezhnye Chelny, as well as Togliatti of Samara region and Tulun of Irkutsk region were among the top 10 monocities that showed a high level of socio-economic development in 2021. The results of the ranking were presented by Irina Makieva, Director General of the Monocity Development Fund, Chief Managing Partner for Urban Development of VEB.

Gubkin of Belgorod region, Pavlovsk of Voronezh region, Cherepovets of Vologda region, Nevinnomyssk of Stavropol region, Blagoveshchensk of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Kirovsk in Murmansk region were also recognized as the country’s best monocities according to the results of 2021.

“We have supported about 70 investment projects at the expense of the fund alone, put into operation more than half together with you, built infrastructure almost 100 facilities. Over 180 billion rubles were attracted to the economy of monotowns with the help of our small resource," Makieva said.
