The ceremony of signing the Agreement between the city of Bishkek and the Government of St. Petersburg “On cooperation in trade, economic, scientific-technological and cultural fields” took place on June 22.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev, who noted that Bishkek and St. Petersburg are closely connected. “We have recently opened a Memorial to the survivors of siege of Leningrad in Bishkek. During the war, many children of the siege of Leningrad were taken care of by Kirghiz families. We are bound by ties of blood, and we must remember that”, - said A.Atambaev.
Speaking about the agreement the President emphasized that the document should become a real mechanism of rapprochement of the two cities. “The agreement should return the sense of brotherhood between our cities and bring our cooperation to a new level. We miss the old cultural and scientific exchanges”, - said A.Atambaev.
