In Nur-Sultan, the international online congress “G-Global. World of the 21st Century" took place. The event was held on November 18-20, 2020, and was aimed to find global anti-crisis solutions.
President of UCLG-Eurasia, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took the floor during the online forum "Global Silk Road - Forum of City Mayors" and highlighted the importance of including a local aspect into the UN global agenda, as well as formation of more sustainable urban governance and introduction of digital technologies.
“The unexpected COVID-19 outbreak is a chance to focus on opportunities, on what could and should be changed in modern cities. Having faced a global challenge, we are jointly working to form sustainable urban governance, promptly responding to the needs of citizens,” Ilsur Metshin emphasized.
Representatives of Paris (France), Lianyungang, Harbin and Xi’an (China), Minsk (Belarus), Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) took part in the "Forum of City Mayors".
The International Congress “G-Global. World of the 21st Century” was launched on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev. This year, for the first time, the event was held entirely online. Over three days, more than 100 experts from 27 countries took part in the forum. The co-organizers were such international organizations as UNCTAD, ECOSOC, World Leadership Alliance Club de Madrid, BBC World News, the renewed Bretton Woods Committee, ASEAN and others.
