Almetyevsk participates in the regional batteries collection campaign. On July 22, 2019 a “Duracell” branded box was installed in the front of the central supermarket where anyone can drop off used batteries.
Batteries are an inexpensive power source that is widely used. They are used in remote controls, watches, portable electronics and even in children’s toys. Disposal of batteries should be carried out according to sanitary standards and in special containers. By the most conservative estimates, every family has at least 10 batteries at home.
In Russia, about 20 thousand tons of batteries are sold every year, and less than 1% of the total amount is sent for utilization. According to the Ecology and Environment Department of the Almetyevsk Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan, Almetyevsk citizens collected seven tons of used batteries in 2018.
Back in December 2017, “Duracell” signed a long-term agreement on the launch of a federal project on the collection and recycling of used batteries with the group of companies “Megapolisresurs”, an enterprise that recycles waste, electronics and batteries.
The company’s task is to organize a federal battery collection network in Russia with the help of its retailers and retail stores.
Anyone can do a useful job by installing a collection box at home or at work. Thus, you do not just show concern about the state of the environment, but also do your best to improve it.
