SMART TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN VLADIVOSTOK

"Умные" светофоры Владивостока

In Vladivostok, all 104 traffic lights will become "smart." This was announced on January 25 at a meeting of the government of Primorsky Krai with the participation of Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, the head of the Primorye capital Konstantin Shestakov. With the participation of leaders of municipalities and various experts, the conference was held in an online format and was dedicated to the project "Digital Primorye.

"In Vladivostok, the main volume of services of the project is concentrated; their total number will be 30, - said Konstantin Shestakov. - We are talking about such spheres of life as road maintenance, transportation, public safety, housing and utility services, education, tourism, and ecology.

So, within the framework of the project, 100% of existing traffic light facilities in the city will be connected to the control and monitoring system; today, there are 104 of them. Forty-nine of them are already equipped with modern controllers; another 28 intersections are being replaced and adjusted.

In addition, as part of the project "Digital Primorye" in Vladivostok, work is underway to introduce a service to manage paid parking spaces and the arrangement of "smart" stops. Plans include introducing the Single Resident Card, an access control system in schools, and a network of tourist information kiosks and information touch-screen displays for visitors to the city.

For reference:

The principle of "smart" traffic lights is that ultrasonic sensors installed on supports 100-200 meters before the intersection count the number of cars approaching the intersection. In real-time, the sensors transmit information to the server. The program receives data from all flows entering the corner simultaneously and prioritizes one direction. The decision, in this case, is made by the machine.
