Unique Energy Complex will be built in Akta

A memorandum on the construction of an enterprise for the production of electricity based on the use of thermal and solar energy in urban areas was signed in the Kazakh city of Aktau. At the same time, desalination of water from the Caspian Sea, which then can be used in various spheres, will also be produced here. Parties to the agreement were representatives of the company "Imperial Energy Renewable Kazakhstan", the mayor of Aktau and the Aktau City Chamber of entrepreneurs.

The cost of modular plants based on renewable energy sources would amount to around 85.5 million dollars.

"We intend to launch the practical implementation of the project in two months. In the words of president of Kazakhstan, in 2020 at least 30 percent of all energy in the country should be produced from renewable sources. Therefore, we expect that the new project will be very effective in this regard," - the founder and managing director Manoj Divakaran said in his speech.

The construction of the new plant will take about one and a half years. The enterprise will produce at least 10 million liters of demineralized water and an additional 150 MW electric power per day. To date, the city and its surrounding villages are provided with electricity and water from only one source - the local power plant. However, Aktau is gradually expanding and growing; only in the next few years construction of six new housing complexes is already planned. That's why one of the main tasks of the new project is to ensure energy security in the region, while reducing the environmental burden on it.

"The plant will make it possible to create more than 150 new jobs. In addition, the company is planning to open a research center on the base of one of our city universities", ­­- the mayor of Aktau Edil Zhanbyrshin said.

Within public-private partnership, company rents the land plot, builds production and assumes control of the company. According to the contract, after 20 years, the plant will be transferred to the government.

The project of a new plant will be presented at the International exhibition "EXPO-2017" in Astana.
