Ветряная электростанция Зарафшана удостоена награды

A wind farm is being built in the city of Zarafshan (Uzbekistan). It is planned to be put into commercial operation by the end of 2024. The 500-megawatt (MW) capacity will generate electricity sufficient to power 500,000 houses and prevent the emission of up to 1,1 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per year.

The project is being implemented by a company from the UAE. More than 600 million dollars of foreign direct investment will be attracted to this project. 1,300 people will get a job, both during the construction stage and the subsequent operation of the wind farm.

It is expected that this will help Uzbekistan to achieve its goals of generating up to 3 gigawatts (GW) of energy from wind farms by 2030 and to generate 26% of its electricity from renewable energy sources.

It is important to note that this wind farm construction project was awarded the PFI (Project Finance International) Awards. This is one of the most prestigious awards in project financing. Receiving this award is a universal recognition of the complexity of the investment project and the joint efforts of all its participants.
