Vologda became the first city in Russia to develop an environmental standard

The mayor of the city, Sergei Voropanov, and the chairman of the Russian Ecological Society, Rashid Ismailov, signed a cooperation agreement on July 29.

"In Vologda, 2021 has been declared the Year of Ecology. Our goal is that Vologda should become the most environmentally friendly city in Russia by 2030. We are working to reduce emissions into the atmosphere, the quality of drinking water, the number of green spaces, the introduction of a" green economy " at enterprises. Such project committees as "Plastic-zero" and "Small River of the big city", "Development of electric transport" have been created in our city, which are aimed at improving environmental conditions. Also, now in Vologda, work is underway to create local treatment facilities", said the Mayor of Vologda, Sergey Voropanov.

In Vologda, the eco-standard is planned to be created by the end of the year. The first regional environmental standard in Russia was adopted last year in the Chelyabinsk region. But there is no similar document for municipalities. The "Green Standard" is a single set of tasks and recommendations for improving the environmental situation in the complex, from working with enterprises to recycling household waste and landscaping.
