Kirov City celebrated its 635 anniversary

June 11, 2009 - Kirov City celebrated its 635 anniversary "Kirov is one of the most ancient Russian cities. This is a special place for all its residents, the crossroad where people's destinies and hopes meet, cultures and traditions of the future and the present join", Mayor said in his greeting message to the residents. "Today Kirov is an administrative center of one of the biggest regions known far outside the Russian Federation; the city dynamically develops in the modern Russian environment". A range of events concluded with an evening salute was held in the city. Honorary awards "For Outstanding Services" and Honorary Diplomas were given by the Mayor Vladimir Bykov and the Head of the Administration Mr. Machekhin to the citizens actively contributing to the development of Kirov. UCLG Euro-Asia Secretary General Rassikh Sagitov attended the anniversary events as a representative of the organization. Kirov is one of the founders of UCLG Euro-Asia. Euro-Asia Regional Section closely cooperates with Kirov Administration; the mayor Vladimir Bykov actively participates in the events organized by UCLG Euro-Asia. He headed the delegation form Kirov in the II World Congress of UCLG in Jeju (South Korea) in 2007 as well as in the Congress of Local Governments in Yaroslavl in May 2009. Bykov is a member of UCLG Euro-Asia Council.
