The 20th Anniversary of UCLG-Eurasia!

On April 2, 2024, the International Association “United Cities and Local Governments of Eurasia” celebrates the twentieth anniversary since its foundation. During this period, a tremendous amount of work has been done to establish, strengthen and develop the municipal movement in the Eurasia region.

To date, UCLG-Eurasia occupies an important place in the world system of the municipal movement. After all, UCLG-Eurasia is 1/6^th of the landmass and about 250 million people. UCLG-Eurasia’s members are united by common values, foundations, common historical destinies.

Over time, UCLG-Eurasia has become a leading platform for mutually beneficial cooperation and the efficient inter-municipal dialogue. The Association playing an integrating role in the Eurasia space, at the same, has become a link between Eurasia cities and major international organizations.

Keeping abreast of global trends, UCLG-Eurasia actively promotes the opinion and voice of Eurasia municipalities providing a possibility to participate in the international agenda.

The access to the UN global platforms is one of the Association’s main achievements: representatives of Eurasia local and regional governments now have the opportunity to be involved in the decision-making process at the global level, as well as a place at the negotiating tables on the margins of the UN High-Level Political Forum, meetings of the UN Commission on the Status of Women and other events.

Thanks to the strengthening of linkages, sharing the experience, as well as the continuous work of Eurasia municipalities, many projects and initiatives have been implemented with the main goal reduced to one common denominator – to improve people’s lives.
