On 4 October in the framework of the World Habitat Day in Kazan a number of cities won UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour awards
Awards to the representatives of the cities were presented by the UN Deputy Secretary General, UN-HABITAT Executive Director Ms. Anna Tibaijuka and Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far East Federal district, President of Euro-Asia section of the World organization of United Cities and Local Governments, Vice-President of the World organization UCLG Mr. Kamil Iskhakov.
- The city of Yangzhou,
China was awarded for preservation of the old city and improvement of environment. First award was presented to the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yangzhou People?s Congress Mr. Ji Jianye.
- Foundation of city construction development Pag IBIG, Phillipines was awarded for the program on ensuring excellent public services in housing construction; prize was won by the President of the Fund Romero Federico Quimbo.
- The city of Yaroslavl
was awarded ?For ten-year water provision and preservation plan during the period from 1995 to 2005?, the Mayor of the city Viktor Volonchunas took part in the ceremony of awarding.
