Delegation of UCLG met with UNESCO

On May 10 the delegation of UCLG which included Secretary General of UCLG Rasikh Sagitov and Secretary of Kazan City Duma Ludmila Andreeva conducted a series of meetings with senior managers of UNESCO. They discussed issues concerning getting UNESCO patronage for Eurasian cities forum which will take place on July 5-8 2012 in Kazan. The delegation of UCLG was hosted by the Russian Ambassador to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova, the Director of World Heritage Centre Kishore Rao.

The meeting was attended by Russian diplomats, the head of UNESCO department on work with World Heritage Cities Ron van Oers and other senior officials. It was decided that UNESCO will be involved in the Eurasian Cities Forum and this international event will be given its patronage.

UNESCO will continue consultation with the Secretariat of The Eurasian Section of UCLG in order to successfully organize the event.
