“Dialogue on the Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the 21st Century”

On June 24, 2023, in Volgograd, a round table on the theme “International Cooperation Between Cities in the Modern World: Main Directions, Practices and Prospects” was held via a video conference. The event was organized as part of the International Public Diplomacy Forum “Dialogue on the Volga”, held annually in the region.

The issues of international cooperation in modern conditions, experience and practices of municipalities, city diplomacy and inter-municipal cooperation were discussed during the video conference.

Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, took part in the meeting and presented UCLG-Eurasia’s main activities, the organization’s key priorities, as well as UCLG events recently held and the upcoming ones.

“Now, in times of significant changes in the system of international relations, cooperation in the Eurasia region is coming to the forefront for Russian municipalities, and the Eurasia Regional Section of UCLG responds to this demand. We strengthen cooperation within the Eurasia family and at the same time do our best to make the voice of local governments in Eurasia heard on the world stage”, emphasized the Secretary General.

The round table was also attended by representatives of the governments of Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Volgograd, Krasnoyarsk, Perm, the Association of the Volga Region Cities, the International Assembly of Capital and Major Cities of the CIS, the Union of Russian Cities and others. The participants exchanged experience and noted the importance of cooperation for the development of contacts at the international and regional levels.
