THE SECRETARY GENERAL VISITED ULYANOVSK

At the end of January Secretary General of UCLG Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov paid a working visit to Ulyanovsk, where he met with the chairman of Ulyanovsk City Duma Ilya Nozhechkin, and the city mayor Dmitriy Vavilin.

Ulyanovsk is a Russian city with an engrossing history located at the centre of the middle Volga region. He was built in a picturesque area, on the banks of the Volga river. Today Ulyanovsk is a developed industrial centre. The basis of its economy is enterprises of automotive industry, aviation and instrumentation.

During the meeting the parties discussed questions of Ulyanovsk cooperation in the activity of UCLG Eurasia. Ulyanovsk representatives expressed support for the organisation activity headed by the mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. They also declared their intention to participate in the events of UCLG Eurasia and UCLG World Organisation in 2022, in UCLG World Congress on 10-14 October in Daejeon (South Korea) in particular.

This event is held every three years and gathers more than 3000 representatives of local and regional authorities, international organisations, and other interested parties from all over the world. At this congress meetings of UCLG General Assembly and UCLG World Council will be held. The new World Council and the new Presidency will be elected for 2022-2025, and the place for the next World Congress will be decided.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General of UCLG Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov was given gratitude for strengthening of the international relations of Ulyanovsk.
