Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, held a working meeting with Alexander Maltsev, Deputy Chairman of the Simferopol City Council. During the meeting, the participation of Simferopol in the activities of UCLG-Eurasia was discussed.
As Rasikh Sagitov noted, today UCLG unites cities and associations all over the world and represents more than a half of the world's population. The Eurasian regional section of UCLG is the youngest and fastest growing among other sections. It includes more than 120 cities and associations of local governments of the CIS and Mongolia. This is a united community of municipalities in a huge space with a common language of interstate communication, a common history, a common mentality and common economic tasks.
In turn, Alexander Maltsev stressed that Simferopol has accumulated considerable experience in intermunicipal and international cooperation and has something to offer to its partners in the fields of economic, cultural and scientific interaction. According to the deputy chairman of the city council, in the current difficult international situation it is very important to pay special attention to strengthening friendly ties between municipalities of different countries, to develop an effective mutually beneficial partnership, to increase the investment and tourist attractiveness of cities.
In addition to Simferopol, on June 24-28, Rasikh Sagitov visited Lipetsk, Tambov, Belgorod, Sevastopol, Krasnodar and held working meetings with the leadership of these cities.
