Grozny has become the winner of the contest for holding the Congress of local authorities of Eurasia in 2015. This decision was made during the General Assembly of the Eurasian section of UCLG which took place on July 6 as part of the Eurasian cities forum in Kazan.

The Congress of local authorities of Eurasia is a meeting of high level of local and regional leaders, heads of international organizations and leading experts in order to tackle urban problems and identify strategies

The election of the city of Grozny to be the host of the Congress of Local Authorities of Eurasia is the international recognition of the success and achievements in urban development.

The presentations given by the Mayor of Grozny M.M.Huchiev impressed the participants of the forum, and aroused great interest and desire to visit the beautiful city. The rapid development of Grozny, and the unprecedentedly rapid recovery after the war is a worthy example for many cities in the world.

Grozny has been a member of the Eurasian section of UCLG since 2005 and has always been involved in the activities of the organization.

Thanks to the support and promotion of the Eurasian section, Grozny deservedly received an Honorary Award by UN-HABITAT for the post-conflict reconstruction.

In 2010, the mayor of Grozny M.M.Huchiev was elected to the highest governing bodies of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments” - World Council and Executive Bureau.
