Delegation of Yangzhou visited Kazan

    Meeting of the Head of the Executive Committee of the city of Kazan Marat Zagidullov with delegation of the city of Yangzhou (Chinese People?s Republic) at the head with the chairman of the Standing Committee of Yangzhou People?s Congress Ji Jianye was held on 4 October in the municipality of Kazan. On the part of Yangzhou Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yangzhou People?s Congress Hong Jun and Deputy Director of Yangzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Deng Qing took part in the meeting, on the part of Kazan ? Head of the machinery of the Executive committee of Kazan Denis Kalinkin, Secretary General of Euro-Asia section of the World organization United Cities and Local Governments and other official persons.

    During the meeting Ji Jianye expressed his gratitude to the authorities of Kazan that the city hosts the World Habitat Day. Tomorrow on 4 October 2006 the city of Yangzhou will be presented UN-Habitat award, and in this connection delegation of Chinese city consisting of 18 persons arrived in Tatarstan. Today for the representatives of Yangzhou it was organized Kazan city tour and special excursion to Kazan State University. According to Ji Jiaye, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, where in his time lived Vladimir Lenin, having authority with Chinese People?s Republic even today, made a great impression on all the members of delegation
    Guests from Chinese People?s Republic noted activity of Kazan municipali ty on reconstruction of old districts of the city and expressed their wish to learn experience of the city on reconstruction of historical center and construction of new areas in more detail. Mr. Ji Jianye also told the representatives of the Executive committee about the city of Yangzhou, which recently celebrated its 2,5 thousandth anniversary. The population of the city exceeds 5 million people and equally with historical center, attractive for the tourists, Yangzhou has developed economy: these are enterprises of mechanical engineering, electrical, textile and petrochemical industry.

     In his speech Marat Zagidullov marked that Kazan on the age and population is a ?little brother? near Yangzhou, and for the capital of Tatarstan the experience of Chinese city is extremely important. Especially as two cities are located at junction of two rivers and can actively exchange the experience on water resources development and development of communications between river banks. Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan expressed particular interest to the tourist programs of the city of Yangzhou, having noted the high level of the state policy in the field of tourism development in Chinese People?s Republic.

      Also city-manager of Kazan proposed the colleagues from Yangzhou to exchangethe experience on formation of general plans of city construction. Marat Zagidullov read out main parameters of the city economy, having noted that expected amounts of investments to the city in 2006 will make about 3 billion dollars and told Mr. Ji Jianye about current negotiations with a number of Chinese producers of city buses.

    Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yangzhou People?s Congress mentioned that the city of Yangzhou also has a good industry of city buses, established together with the concern Mercedes and proposed Marat Zagidullov to familiarize with the produced buses. From his part the Head of the Executive Committee noted that Kazan and Yangzhou can actively cooperate in the field of petrochemistry as well.
