Eurasia Regional Section of the World organization "United Cities and Local Governments"
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, the second day of the International Forum of Public Diplomacy, the round table “Prospects of International Cooperation in the Eurasia Space” was held.
The round table, moderated by Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov, considered priority areas of municipalities’ cooperation in the Eurasia Region in the current context, as well as the issues of establishing and developing sister and partner links between Eurasia cities, the experience of municipalities’ international cooperation in achieving the sustainable development. The event was attended by representatives of municipalities of Belarus, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
“As far as UCLG-Eurasia is concerned, we unite interests of local and regional governments of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and this is one sixth of the Earth and about 250 million people. We should say this is indeed a unity. The World Organization has 7 regional sections, and UCLG-Eurasia is the most united one”, Rasikh Sagitov highlighted. “I would like to note that we actively participate in all events of UCLG and the UN. And this is very important as by our decisions we can achieve greater recognition of the Eurasia municipalities and regions’ role in the multilateral system”.
As part of the event, presentations were made by Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Viktor Glushin (Belarus), First Vice-Mayor of Osh Mars Isaev (Kyrgyzstan), Deputy Director of the International Relations Department of the Xi’an People’s Government Li Xiaoyan, researcher, Deputy Head of the Chengdu Social Sciences Academy Yan Xin (China), Deputy Head of the Ryazan Administration Nadezhda Shtevnina, Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Novosibirsk Municipality Evgeny Molin, Deputy Head of the Public Diplomacy Department of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Demin, Head of the External Relations Division of the Tourism and External Relations Development of Nizhny Novogorod Administration Maria Kondratyeva, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Inna Dozortseva, Head of the Foreign Relations and Protocol Division of the Control and Protocol Department of Krasnodar Alexey Lugovsky, Head of the Regional Relations Division of the Foreign and Regional Relations Department of the Volgograd Mayor’s Office Alexander Kiselev (Russia).
