Mayor of Rostov-on-Don elected the President of Union of Russian Cities

A general meeting of the Union of Russian Cities took place on June 15 in Rostov-от-Don. The Secretary General of Eurasian section of UCLG Rasikh Sagitov represented the Copresident of UCLG, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur R. Metshin at the meeting.

Issues of distribution of powers between federal executive bodies, executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation and local self-government, the results of the work of the Union in 2011 and key issues, priorities and objectives of the Union at the present stage were discussed at the meeting.

The elections of the President and members of the board of the Union took place as well. The mayor of Rostov-on-Don M.A.Chernyshev was re-elected the President of the Union.

Rasikh Sagitov on behalf of the Co-President of the Eurasian section of UCLG, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur R. Metshin invited the mayors of cities of Russia to take part in the Eurasian Cities Forum which will be held in Kazan on July 5-8, 2012.
