October 29, 2011 the Council of Eurasian section of UCLG decided to include the city of Comrat  to the membership of UCLG-Eurasia.
UCLG Co-president, the President of UCLG-Eurasia, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Meyshin presented to the Mayor of Comrat Nikolay Dudoglo the UCLG -Eurasia Membership Certificate.
The Mayor of Comrat, Nikolay Dudoglo expressed gratitude to the new members for joining the Organization’s Section. He emphasized the importance of the participation and membership in the international organizations as the means inducing the city’s recognition. Nikolay Dudoglo expressed high hopes for the future of the organization and emphasized the importance of the city’s unification in reaching the common goals.
Comrat is the city of Moldova, located on the Ialpug river. Comrat is the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Gagauzia. The first official mention of the town date back to 1789. His past and present gathered in the form of unique exhibits of historical museum. The basis of the museum collection are archaeological finds. The permanent exhibition is devoted to the Gagauz history and culture. Residents are proud of the current old landmark building – the Orthodox Cathedral of St. John, built in the XIX century, the art gallery of the Gagauz, the Turkish library named Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Food production is the basis of urban economy.Comrat is situated in the southern wine zone of Moldova. It is known for production of red wines and muscats. In Comrat and its suburbs there are about 10 wine factories. Wine tours of Moldova, starting from the capital, cover the entire country. Many travel agencies conduct wine tours. The southern route runs through Comrat.
In Comrat operate the following factories: canning, butter factory, distillery. Other industries: oil refinery, ferro-concrete factories, furniture factories, sawmills, production of plastic windows and doors, slaughterhouses, transportation organizations.
