Secretary General of Euro-Asia section of UCLG Mr. Sagitov made visits to the Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

    From 21-23 July 2006 Mr. Rassikh Sagitov stayed in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). This meeting was of familiarization character and was the first meeting since city joined to UCLG. Secretary General met the Deputy Chair of Dushanbe Mr. Rustam Rakhmatov, Chair of Shokhmansur district Mr. Mukhiddinov and Chair of I. Somoni district of Dushanbe Mr. Fayazov. Fruitful meeting was held with the authority and members of Association of development of small towns of Tajikistan ?Vatanam?, the mission of which is assistance to social and economic development of cities and jamoats of the Republic of Tajikistan. Keen interest was provoked by the issue on nominating the cities of Middle Asia to UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour - special award by which cities, establishments or individual representatives are awarded for special achievements in the field of realization of Millennium development goals.

    From 23 to 27 July Mr. Sagitov continued his tour to Bishkek (Kirghizstan) where also met the Mayor of Bishkek Mr. Nogoyev, chair of Association of Kirghiz republic  Mrs. Baybolova Nurzhamal, chair of Bishkek city Kenesh (council), representatives of the President administration and Prime-minister machinery were organized. Except of all questions on joining Bishkek and Tokmok to the UCLG-Euro-Asia were discussed. Mr. Sagitov visited the cities of Tokmok, Balykchi, Cholpon-ata and took part at the seminar of the mayors of Kirghizstan devoted to the trend of realization of the ?Law on local self-government in Kirghizstan?.
