On July 4 - 15, 2009 UCLG Euro-Asia Secretary General Rasikh Sagitov met with Heads of Member Cities

On July 4 - 15, 2009 UCLG Euro-Asia Secretary General Rasikh Sagitov had a business trip that included a range of visits to the heads of UCLG Euro-Asia member municipalities. The main purpose of these visits was to activate cooperation between UCLG Euro-Asia and the municipalities. Secretary General met with the heads of Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Grozny, Derbent, Karabudahkent Rayon of Dagestan Republic, Makhachkala, Nazran, Nalchik, Saratov, Syzran, and Elista.         
    
The participants discussed the perspectives of interregional cooperation development in the framework of the visits; also new agreements regarding participation of the municipalities in UCLG Euro-Asia events were reached. Secretary General learned about the cities achievements that might be of interest to the international community in the future.
 

At the meeting with Rassikh Sagitov, the mayor of Nazran signed and submitted an application paper for membership of Nazran City in the Euro-Asia Section of UCLG.     

Mr. Sagitov also visited local sightseeing in the course of his trip: Naryn-Kala Fortress (Derbent), Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov Mosque (Grozny), Central Hurul "Golden Adobe of Buddah Shakyamuni" (Elista) etc., and tasted national cuisine.    

Secretary General noted in whole that the trip was successful and fruitful; also he expressed high appreciation of the hospitality accorded by cities.
