Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary-General of UCLG-Eurasia took part in the II Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. The Conference took place in July 3-6 in the city of Ulaanbaatar under the theme “Preventing Disaster Risk: Protecting Sustainable Development.”
Convened by the UN Office for DRR (UNISDR) and the Government of Mongolia, the Conference reflected on three years into the implementation of the Sendai Framework, reviewed progress made against the commitments at the AMCDRR 2016 and strengthened coherent implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Over 3,000 delegates participated in the event where the “Ulaanbaatar Declaration”, a 2018-2020 Action Plan for the Asia region, and voluntary commitments were produced.
During the official visit to the capital of Mongolia, Rasikh Sagitov met with Sunduin Batbold, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar. During the meeting, Sunduin Batbold expressed his readiness to send a specialist to participate in the training session on localization of the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the Eurasia Local Governments Congress 2018 in the city of Cheboksary. It is planned that Mayor of Ulaanbaatar will also visit the Congress with the official delegation.
